2.
CLASSIC HITS OF THE SIXTIES AND SEVENTIES
In the Sixties, popular music became influenced by rock and roll,
the troubadour folk singers, R&B and Motown. This series includes
songs by such artists as Frankie Valli, Dionne Warwick, Judy Collins, Carole King, Smokey Robinson,
The Supremes, Roberta Flack, The Carpenters, Aretha Franklin, Sade,
and Stevie Nicks, among others.
3. COUNTRY
Originating in the South, country music remains America’s most
popular musical style. Story dominates; lyrics count more than
melody, dealing with the truths and raw emotions of everyday life.
Included are songs associated with such singers as Pasty Cline,
Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, Dolly Parton, Lynn
Anderson, Tammy Wynette, Glen Campbell and other great
country stars.
In
an era of thin voices and wispy emotions, Kristi King's mature sound and
approach to a song are a breath of fresh air. We believe her when she
delivers the plaintive lyrics of "I Can't Make You Love Me" or the saucy
lines of "Fever."
Her repertoire is amazingly versatile; she sings Aretha Franklin's
"Chain of Fools" with the same authority as Doris Day's
"Sentimental Journey." She
reminds us of the songs we’ve loved and the singers who sang them. But,
like a true pro, she interprets, never imitates.
